Migraines, Grinding, Clenching and TMJ

Migraine pain may be caused or intensified by the muscles under your scalp. It starts as a sleep disorder of intense jaw clenching. This results in Migraine pain, chronic headaches and TMJ pain.

People with migraine pain suffer a lot. A recent medical study confirms that people who suffer from migraine pain and chronic headache clench their jaws, causing extremely intense muscular contraction. Nighttime jaw clenching usually goes unnoticed, but it sets the stage for migraine pain and chronic headache pain.

We offer the NTI device, a small, nearly invisible, removable device that you’ll wear when you are asleep unlike the traditional mouth piece with a flat surface. The NTI is a custom fitted device that prevents the tooth surfaces from ever coming into intense contact. This eliminates high intensity clenching and the muscular irritation that leads to migraine pain, TMJ, and chronic headache.

After receiving her NTI treatment, our patient Lorelei W. wrote:

“Now my headaches are gone, my jaw feels so much better, my neck pain is dramatically reduced, and even my sinuses have improved. Finally I’m getting a good night’s sleep. I should have done this a long time ago.”

When grinding or clinching the average person can create pressure ranging from 1200 to 1600 lb.per square inch, causing destruction of the teeth, fracture and extreme tooth wear . This extreme pressure on your teeth also affects the jaw joint (TMJ) causing damage to the joint cartilage and pain.

We offer a variety of treatments and appliances for these conditions that are customized to your individual needs. Please contact our office today to learn more.
